The future of online communications is here!

Update: Okay, so Google Wave is officially closing down. However, many of the technologies in Wave have made their way into other Google products and I believe many of the concepts within Wave were just ahead of their time and poorly launched. Here’s Google Official Announcement about Wave.

I’m beside myself with excitement!!!  About three hours ago I got an instant message from my brother Hayden that said, “I just got into google wave”.  I’ve just now received my invitation to join Google Wave myself (thanks Hayden for using one of your precious 8 invites for me!).

What is a wave?

A wave is equal parts conversation and document. People can communicate and work together with richly formatted text, photos, videos, maps, and more.

The top 10 in-demand jobs in 2010 did not exist in 2004.

We are currently preparing students for jobs that don’t yet exist…using technologies that haven’t been invented yet…in order to solve problems we don’t even know are problems yet.

–Excerpt from Did You Know? v3.0

This has been one of my favorite online videos since I first saw it over a year ago.  It is a fast-paced video with thought-provoking statistics that demonstrate how quickly our world is shifting and changing.  For example, what are the implications of 1 out of 8 couples married in the US in 2007 meeting online?  What other areas of our life is technology infiltrating and impacting?
